Going to the Chapel -- Twice!

A couple of weekends ago (Oct 23-25) was certainly a crazy weekend for the Kay’s. Thank goodness we have such a great in home dog sitter, Cadie, who loves to stay in our house and watch our babies as we trek all over the country on our wild adventures. This past weekend was a long time coming. One of my little sisters from my sorority, Kappa Delta, from North Georgia got married to a wonderful guy who she has been dating for many, many…..MANY years. Emily transferred from NGCSU, and finished up here degree at Auburn – WAR EAGLE!

She was a bridesmaid in my wedding, so I was honored that she asked me to be a part of her and Dave’s big day.

The weekend started off with the bridesmaid’s luncheon at Livingston located in downtown Atlanta at the Georgian Terrace, across the street from the Fox Theater.

It was a like a mini reunion for me as I got to spend some great time with not only Emily, but two of my other best friends from College, Jessica … who I have a ton of fun with who is my other little sorority sister.

And another great girl, Tinsley who rushed another sorority but affectionately calls me her KD big, and I call her my “Phi Mu little”

We look like babies here - esp Tins!

Wade and Jonathan (Jessica’s fiancé’) had a rather interesting time while we were at the luncheon. Jess and I were having major issues with our strapless dresses and were not quite sure what to do. Never fear! Our boys will always save the day. While we were at the luncheon they tag teamed and went to the JoAnn’s fabric store to buy Hollywood tape for us to make sure our dresses stayed in place. Now, can you imagine what it looked like having these two big burly men buying fashion tape in the craft store?? Gotta love em! Jonathan and Wade had a great weekend too with lots of male bonding time as Jess and I did our bridesmaids thing. They made a lot of great memories involving football, fashion tape, taxi drivers name Tello (tay-oh), coolers in bushes, pizzas, and new nicknames like “blue shirt over there” as Jess loving dubbed Jon as she was introducing him to a group of people. We had a lot of fun. It reminded me a lot of old times. Jess and Jon will be getting married next June, and I am beyond honored to be her Matron of Honor.

We had a great time at the rehearsal dinner. The six NGCSU people sat at the ‘Superman’ table. Each table has a picture of Emily or Dave from growing up that was themed. When you came into the dinner area you found you name card, then found your table – Superman was a picture of Dave as a little kid in Superman Pajamas. Really Cute idea. Wade found some new buddies from Omaha, Nebraska where he jabbed about USC and the College Baseball World Series for a good portion of the night. It was a good time had by all

The wedding was the next day at 7:00pm. It was beautiful with lots of Fall colors, and Emily looked stunning.

The reception was beyond fun with lots of dancing … some good… some not so good… but all of it FUN! The DJ was Carl Christie from Shallowford Presbyterian – the church I grew up in located in Atlanta. It was good to see a familiar face on such a random occasion. His mom, Beth Christie is the one who got me started singing as a tiny child aged 2 or 3!

Sunday Morning we hopped in our car and scooted up to Lake Lure North Carolina to attend a friend of mine from graduate school’s wedding, Megan McKenzie - now Megan Branham :).

Megan is a dear friend of mine, who was also a bridesmaid in my wedding.

Megan had a rather small, intimate, but beautiful wedding at the Lake Lure Inn.

It was good to have some time with two of my favorite girls from graduate school, Colleen and Megan

What a weekend! So many great memories crammed into three short days!
