This pregnancy is officially named the David and Goliath pregnancy! Let’s rewind to last Thursday night. I was driving to church for my Stephen Ministry meeting when a Tahoe pushed this little Lexus car right into my 4Runner. Luckily the impact went to my wheel well and not directly on the driver’s door where I was sitting. I started having some complications soon after the wreck so Wade and I spent the rest of the evening in the emergency room crying and praying so hard as I was poked and prodded that everything would be ok with Baby Kay. His Mom and Dad drove down from Greenville in record time to support us. They really helped to calm Wade down. Thank the Lord, everything turned out to be just fine. This could have been so much worse, but thank goodness it wasn’t.
I had my follow up appointment with my doctor today that was on the books before the car wreck. They did another ultrasound. The baby is getting bigger (excellent), the clot is not getting smaller or going away (not good). The heartbeat is there and in the normal range (good), but it is on the very low end of “normal” (not great). The doctor is concerned this is a partial molar pregnancy which is extremely rare. There is nothing at this point that I can do to make it better or worse. The doctor said this can go either way, and we don’t know which way it will go. She said that partial molar pregnancy would mean the placenta would basically turn into a cancer and the baby would not survive.
She took some blood work today and wants to see me back next week for another ultrasound and to see who is winning the battle between Baby Kay and this nasty blood clot, or should we say David and Goliath? She gave me some medicine for my nausea which I am sooooo thankful for. It is already working.
We are trying to stay focused on one day at a time and we know the outcome of this is totally and 100% in God’s hands. I would be lying though if I didn’t admit that I am a tad sad and scared about this. So that is the update on Baby Kay. We will get through this too and be better on the other end no matter what happens! The good news is the baby is doing well minus the low heartbeat. David and Goliath is such a great Bible story with such a great ending. Anything is possible, and we will continue to hold onto that hope, and the hope that Christmas brings to our hearts.
