I forgot to mention another exciting thing that has occured in our house recently. A few months back my contacts were driving me crazy! It felt like I had something stuck in them and they would cloud up easily. I went to the eye doctor to figure out what the deal was. He told me that I was developing an allergy to wearing contacts. I had never heard of this before. He said I had a few options. I could transition to a hard lens (no thanks! Tried that a while back). I could go to a one a day lens which is expensive and I would eventually develop an allergy to, or I could have PRK surgery. Wade and I talked about what to do. Since you cannot have PRK surgery while you are pregnant, and we are wanting a family soon, AND because I will devleop all allergy to the one a day lenses anyway we decided on the surgery!
I had this done over labor day weekend and it was pretty amazing. PRK is different than LASIK and the recover is a little longer, but the results are generally better long term. I did not take any pain medicines or goofy drugs like valium. I trusted the doctor and did the surgery "naturally".
When I got home I was able to read the ESPN ticker going across the bottom of the screen with no problems which was HUGE! I got my first pair of glasses in the third grade and have been wearing contacts since the fifth. I could not see the alarm clock in the morning when I woke up because my vision was so bad. It is the most amazing thing to be able to see with no contacts or glasses.
I went back to Dr. Huff last week to have my final check-up. He said he cannot even tell that I had the surgery done and I have perfect 20/20 vision now! I will be making a trip to the DMV here with my doctors note to get a new DL since I do not need corrective lenses any more! Yay for medical technology!
