I am going to embark on another adventure. I must say when I moved to South Carolina I was not invested or interested in anything about this state except for getting my Masters Degree and then moving away. With that said, I did not initially develop strong roots here as it was just a stopping point on my life road map. Meeting Wade made me have to reconsider my stance! We met and married so quickly that we did not have a lot of time to establish friends together and me – well – I did not have a core group of girlfriends here either. All my friends and family were in Georgia – where I was planning to return to!
We are in a tricky spot now. All of our couple friends here have at least one child. Most of them have two. Sometimes it is hard to relate and join in conversations when we are currently childless (not by choice – believe me!) Wade has his foundation friends here that he has known for years which is wonderful, but I want more girlfriends here!
Our church is wonderful and there are a lot of incredible couples there who are in the above one or two child category, but for the most part, our church is older. I tried pottery classes for a bit, which I enjoyed, but did not really meet anyone who I connected with. I am the youngest one in my office by about 15 years, and I kind of have a deal with keeping professional boundaries......
Yesterday I received an e-mail from the Alumnae chapter here for Kappa Delta. They are in the process of redoing the Alumnae chapter here and are looking for KD alum to build this up. It is a grassroots effort. I am going to try this out and see if this can help expand my personal foundation here in my now “home”, South Carolina.
We’re the delt’s, the Kappa Delt’s and always proud to be, the #1, the mighty one, we wear the green KD!! So RHGS Kappa Delta is the Best! Hey!

That's awesome! A friend of mine is super involved in her Zeta Alum group, and she loves it, has made lots of new friends, etc. I hope it works out for you! :) :)
