Our first "Ultrasound"

Well - it isn't a traditional ultrasound, but it is just as good.  An ultrasound shows two people that a baby is on the way.  It signifies the beginning of new life and the making of a new family.  Wade I know the excitement and nervousness that an ultrasound gives.  After my last heartfelt, prayer of a blog post about how weary I am, God started to stir our hearts in a way that I have been so closed off to before now.

I am not really sure when the moment hit, but when it did, it became very clear to both of us.  To me, it is about being pregnant, but at the same time it isn't.  The ultimate goal we are working towards is having a family.  Yet another lesson in God answers our prayer in his time and his way, which might not be the answer we think will be.

In Acts, we are told "it is more blessed to give than to receive".  We got to thinking about this verse this weekend and came to two conclusions.  1) It is better to give the gift of being a parent than it is to receive the gift of being a parent and 2) We don't make babies, God makes babies.

With that said, with much prayer, we have decided to adopt.  We have decided to use a great organization called Bethany (bethany.org).  It is a Christian organization.  We completed our preliminary application for a US baby.....
...and signed our statement of faith....step two in the process...

So even though we do not have a traditional ultrasound, these two images are like ultrasounds to us, signifying we are on our way to building our family the way that God has designed for us. The Bible tells us many times to care for the widows and the orphans. After all, Jesus was adopted by his father Joseph. God chooses us to be parents of HIS children. We cannot wait to meet ours. Amen!

  1. Congratulations Big and Wade! It moves me to think that at this moment there is a child out there or soon to be born who has already been loved by you both for a long time. What a life changing moment for all. Best wishes to you both, as you continue on your journey toward parenthood.

  2. CONGRATULATIONS! This is a huge step for you, I'm sure. My sister-in-law has adopted one US child and has started the process for adopting another child. If there is anything I can offer other than prayers for you guys on this journey please let me know!
