Rick's Wedding

Over Valentine's Day weekend, we attended a wedding here in Columbia for Lauren Funderburk and John Guignard (pronounced Gen-yard).  Lauren is the daughter of one of Wade's former co-worker's Rick Funderburk.  The wedding was a six o'clock wedding in a very old and traditional church her in Columbia.  You can tell from this picture she was as tunning bride.

What is special about this wedding for us is knowing Lauren's Dad, Rick may not have been around to give Lauren away if Wade hadn't have been at the right place at the right time.  Rick and Wade used to run together at work on their lunch break.  One day, Rick started having severe chest pains in the middle of the run.  Wade was there to get help to make sure Rick was taken care of.  Turns out Rick had some sort of heart condition that could have been fatal.  He recently had heart surgery to replace one of his valves with a mechanical valve.  Rick thanks Wade over and over again for helping him that day.  They exchanged knowing words without getting sappy at the wedding which was really special to Wade.

 What was also neat about Lauren's Wedding was the similarity to ours.  Rick told Wade how it gave him chills on our wedding day when the thunder was booming in the background as the bagpiper led me and my Dad in playing "Highland Cathedral".

Lauren also was given away to a bagpiper leading her in playing "Highland Cathedral".  I was glad Wade got to spend some time with his friend Rick.  It was a lovely evening!
