Line Drive, Pharmacy School & a New Purse

Wade and I play on a co-ed softball team for our church. Last Saturday afternoon we had practice with the whole team. I was not satisfied with the way I was hitting the ball, so after we left, Wade and I decided to venture over to a softball complex close to our house and have a little batting practice with just the two of us. I pitched the ball to him, and this was the first time I had ever attempted to pitch. I did a great job if I don't say so myself! When it was my turn to hit, Wade kept telling me to hit it harder!!! He said you need to put all the weight on your back foot and "power through". I said well ok then! Once I started doing that, I was knocking the dooninny out of the ball into the outfield. Wade was a little shocked and wasn't expecting the next hit from me to be a line drive.... straight to his SHIN! He immediately had a goose egg on his shin, and he kind of looked like this......

No fears. We are never knocked off our feet too long around the Kay house. This Monday, dear Wade is going back to school. I am VERY excited to go to the office supply store this weekend to get him some new gear. I love going to the office supply store! He is beginning classes to complete is pre-requisites for pharmacy school! Since losing his job in January, he has been helping out every day for about 4-5 hours at a locally owned pharmacy and has since fell in love with helping people and the healthcare industry. There may be another opportunity for employment that we are saying our prayers about, but really cannot say a whole lot about right now. Either way, I am proud of Wade for his soul searching and willingness to take a risk to move towards a job and a profession that he truly loves. I speak from experience that it is a wonderful combination - getting paid for what you love to do.

On a “that is life” type of note, a few weeks ago, my car was broken into in the church parking lot at 12:00 in the afternoon. Wade and I had been at a lock-in with the youth. Wade was putting all of our things in our car. He came back inside, and went back outside about 10 minutes later to find my window had been smashed and my purse snatched. What an awful feeling. We have gotten everything situated at this point. I am most sad that my Maui Jim sunglasses I got for Christmas were in there and my camera. I think the camera upsets me the most, but the good thing is, I had already loaded most of the pictures on my computer. I did have fun picking out a new purse and new wallet.
